Below are some common questions I get from clients.
At this time, I am not taking any new nail enhancement clients. If you would like to be added to a waiting list, please let me know your preferred appointment time and service requested.
I always have availability for pedicures and gel toes when time allows.
I do from time to time. However, the majority of my work is done by hand. Electric files are completely safe if the technician has been trained properly. I believe that the natural nail should be preserved as much as possible. I am very careful when I file. In my opinion, a standard hand file is just as dangerous in the hand of an untrained and careless technician.
Unlike acrylics, gels cannot be soaked off. They must be buffed off. Removal generally takes about thirty minutes. I usually remove about 95% of the gel and leave a very thin layer on then nail to protect it as it grows.
NOTE: Please do not ever let a tech pry or pop your nail enhancements off. This is often done with the aide of metal nippers or plastic nail tips that are shoved between the gel and the natural nail. This is extremely harmful to the natural nail. Because gel has such a strong bond to the nail, if it is pryed or popped off, a layer of the natural nail will give way and peel off. This method thins the nail temendously and can even thin it in places clear down to the nail bed, exposing flesh.
I follow all guidlines set by the Oregon Board of Cosmetology. We are required to soak all metal implements (nippers, cuticle pushers, electric file bits, etc.) for at least ten minutes in a hospital grade high level disinfectant. This is done between each client. I also use a new file on every client. NEVER let a tech use a dirty or used file on you.
Our pedicure setup is ideal because we use stainless steel basins to soak the feet. There are no pipes or filters for bacteria to grow in. They are sanitized per State Board requirements between every client.
Your health is my number one concern. It horrifies me when I hear stories about infectious diseases being spread in dirty salons. This is something that could have been prevented entirely if the rules and regualtions would have been followed.
Dont hesitate to ask if you have any questions regarding my sanitation procedures.
Typically you need to come in every 2-3 weeks for a fill. This is when length is taken off if desired and the gap where the gel has grown out and the natural nail is exposed is filled in with new product.
I always reccomend coming in two weeks after your initial set. If I determine you are fine to go three weeks then your next fill will be in three weeks, although you are welcome to still come in every two weeks if you like.
Please contact me if you have any other questions. I would be happy to help in any way that I can.
